As a child I was referred to as a "tomboy", a totally acceptable designation in the 60's. Spending my playtime climbing trees, riding bikes with a card in spokes so it sounded like a motorcycle, playing army, building forts, playing with marbles, little green army men, hot wheels and reading comic books. In the 70's I rode motorcycles, played a horn in the marching band and had a muscle car, a 1966 Chevy SS 2 door with glasspacks and an 8 track. I did drive this too fast. I had some excellent friends that were girls, but most of my friends were boys.
It is terrifying to to think that if I was a 6 - 10 girl child of so called "woke" parents today they may have the right to change my gender because they "feel" I would be more comfortable and safe becoming a boy child because of my associations and preferences. Today, in spite of my childhood inclinations, I am the mother of 4 and...
