A friend in Scandinavia just sent me this article knowing that I had had polio as a child. The Sabin live virus oral vaccine is a cost saving decision for third world countries. In the US, the Salk killed virus injectable is used. This particular portion astounded me:
"Now only the vaccine-derived polio virus remains in Africa with 177 cases being identified this year.
This is a rare form of the virus that mutates from the oral polio vaccine and can then spread to under-immunised communities."
The word "ONLY" 177 vaccine-derived cases????? 177 PEOPLE got polio from the cheaper oral live virus vaccine. PEOPLE will have their lives ruined, 177 of them because of the live virus vaccine.
Am I supposed to celebrate this?
