If you don't understand why Christians are Christians and not Jews, you have to understand the belief that Jesus Christ was not only a man, but also the worldly manifestation of The Word spoken by God at the beginning of time.
Logos, is the truthful spoken word, creating order out of chaos, (the naming of things that makes them individuated from the chaotic background of the world, which makes them visible, and brings spiritual truth into the world), and thus also God, manifest.
As Athanasius, an early Christian theologian, had it “God became man [so] that man might become [more like] God".
In other words, Christians were enjoined to abjure violence, avarice, murder, theft, perjury, idolatry, licentiousness and perversion, and instead focus on God, and especially on Christ as His Son and the Saviour of human souls.
