Hey Rubinites! This is a call for help. Two or three knowledgeable responses would allow me some clarity. I'm reading Unrestricted Warfare (by Colonels Qiao Liang and Wang Xiangsui) and cannot understand the arguments made in the chapter entitled, ".Expeditionary Force. Integrated Force." This chapter is critical of the Army's inability to carry out reforms after the Gulf War. Blame seems to fall of the "Brigade Faction" of newly promoted majors and colonels who, in turn, put failure at the feet of regular troops and instead need "crack goops," "model troops," and "primary brigade," three programs handed over to General Sullivan. What gets tried is a Fourth Mechanized Unit, an experimental brigade of ,800 men. LTC "Maigeleige" in his book "Break the Factional Position," advocated battle groups of 5,000 men each...
