I'm a SoCal native. Second generation. My kids are third generation. For seventy-five years, my family has lived in Oceanside. (For California, this is insane, just FYI for you outofstate people).

I want out. Someone brought this article to my attention and ... you know, I've heard the heartbreak in Ben's voice when he talks about what LA has become. I know the feeling. Why heartbreak? Because this mess is not the Cali we grew up with.

It's not like SoCal, 30 years ago, was Mayberry. (That's my dad's era, lol). I went to a HS where we had a drive by shooting. Kid got shot inside a school bathroom the year before I started there. Drug deal gone wrong, I think. No - it wasn't sweetness and light. I knew what parts of town to stay out of - and what parts of town only to be in with a male escort.

It looks shinier now. But CA has always been great about shiny on ...

This is why God gave us sunsets. To say good bye to a troubled day. God gave us sunrises to welcome a new day filled with hope. Hugs to everyone. I am always thinking of you all 🌻
