FAN FICTION / MANLY MAN?
Now we’re...shaming Trump because he doesn’t match a certain accepted form of masculinity? Is this “masculinity policing”? I thought gender and gender expression were social constructs.
I’ll stop being glib: I see these sorts of ultimately articles as narcissistic. As in, they hate Trump so much that they’re going to write thousands of words in order to luxuriate in that hate. The dopamine hit they get from thinking they’re a good, righteous person because they hate Trump is so addictive.
Would anyone else consider this a form of Fan Fic? Trump’s opponents are so invested in him being this nefarious villain that they literally pen the alternate reality that reflects the character arc they want for him.
(I’ll also point out here that a Hate Fan is still a fan...celebrity status dies when people stop paying attention to you, which is why even bad press is good publicity.)
Would love to hear your thoughts.
