George Floyd's death is tragic. That said, there were 933 people who were killed by the police in 2019. About 1 in 5 were black. A total of 99 of them were black males under the age of 30. 1 was unarmed. He assaulted the police officer. Police-caused deaths are almost always due to shooting, and rarely are due to detention techniques, like with Floyd.
To put that in context, about 40K black males from age 15-34 died overall in 2019. Still, the LA times ran a story called "Getting killed by police is a leading cause of death for young black men in America" on August 16th of last year.
Try to find a national news story about the police killing anyone who is not black, and you will see something interesting. Such stories are rare, even though nearly 4 out of 5 people killed by the police are not black, and white men are the largest demographic group who are killed.
