I was looking forward to the NFL this year. I have not watched a game since a couple of weeks after Kaepernick started the protests that have turned the league into an organization that seems to care more about identity politics than football. Partly because informal boycott, but mostly because they have taken the fun out of the game.
Things seemed to have settled down a bit, and America was focused on other things. Then Drew Brees, one of the really good people in the league, was asked a question about the protests. His answer was exactly how I, and I believe most people, feel about them. We respect what they are saying, but they are doing it in a way that is disrespectful to the flag and the country. We have seen him be forced to not only apologize for his statement, but disavow it as wrongthink.
