Just sat down with Kim Klacik about her appearance on The View this morning which is tearing up the Internet right now...

New Vesperisms Podcast Episode! Here's a talk I gave in June about the parallels between the 14th century Plague and our own time, particularly the overlap of social movements.
This summer, when I was getting ready to release my latest novel, A Cloud of Outrageous Blue, I began to notice some really uncanny parallels between what was going on socially as a result of the pandemic and lockdown, and the dynamics of the Great Plague of 1348, which the novel is about. Most notably, the epidemic of fear and shame which are tearing us apart. This is nothing new—and artists MUST get their heads screwed back on straight if we're to live up to what life is demanding of us right now: to be a prophetic voice to our world.

If you prefer it on YouTube, that's here as well.

Can I just say, I am so so grateful to have found this community. I was losing my mind on Twitter. I've self-censored practically everything on Facebook. Who knows how long we can count on YouTube. I was getting a bit concerned for the future of the whole internet experiment, what with the big companies all but owning us.

I'm not a fringe person by any means and I'm usually the last to find out about the cool new place to be. I stay to myself and try to raise my family in peace. These days, the world is spinning out of control and it's so hard to find people to talk to because it seems like everyone's scared to say the "wrong" thing.

So I guess this is my "Hello!" to you all. I'm just happy to be here.
