Opportunity is a concept that Wallace Wattles explores in an especially interesting and important way in The Science of Getting Rich. Specifically, he poses the question, “Is opportunity monopolized?”
That’s the way most people think about opportunity … isn’t it? That there’s a finite supply of it in any given area. That there are only so many opportunities to go around. That an opportunity once seized upon by a person is gone from the world for good; one fewer in an ever-diminishing number.
The truth, as revealed by Wattles in his groundbreaking book, is just the opposite. Here’s what he as to say:
There is an abundance of opportunity for the man who will go with the tide, instead of trying to swim against it … The visible supply is practically inexhaustible; and the invisible supply really IS inexhaustible.
