When I was young, not long before "under God" was added to the Pledge of Allegiance on Flag Day in 1954, we recited the Pledge each morning in school. The Gideons distributed small bibles in school. An American flag was in each schoolroom. Fresh out of WWII patriotism abounded. A bit later I was required to memorize and recite Lincoln's Gettysburg Address in history class.

My next door neighbor is a Vietnam POW veteran and flies the American Flag in both his front and back yards. He is proud to have served his country. He suffers greatly from Agent Orange problems.

Has this kind of patriotism died in our country?

Just sat down with Kim Klacik about her appearance on The View this morning which is tearing up the Internet right now...

View as I drove home from a neighboring town where my friend's home was saved twice- once last night when it came near her backyard and then again today when a hotspot by her house flared up. Grateful for firefighters and their work saving her home. Even during all this craziness there is much to be thankful for.
